Information Collection & Use

Registration
In order to use our services, you must first complete the "Get Help Now" registration form and create a unique login name and password. During registration you are required to provide your contact information (such as name, billing address, phone, and email). We may use this information to contact you regarding the services you express an interest in via periodic account statements, security notifications and monthly newsletters.

TechsAmericaTM is the sole owner of the information collected on the TechsAmerica websites. TechsAmerica collects personally identifiable information from our users as an integral part of providing the services we offer.

Orders
When you purchase a product or service from us, we request certain personally identifiable information from you on our order form. You must provide contact information (such as name, email, billing and shipping address) and financial information (such as credit card number, expiration date).

We use this information for billing purposes and to fill your orders. If we have trouble processing an order, we may also use this information to contact you.

Tell-A-Friend
When you use our referral service to Tell a Friend about our site, we will ask for yours and your friend's name and email address. We will use this information for the sole purpose of sending your friend an email inviting him or her to visit the site. You will receive a copy of this email, as well as notification of any delivery errors. If our logs indicate that the email was not received, we may send a follow-up email, however, this information will not be used for any other promotional emails. (Only account holders may subscribe to our newsletters, technical updates and promotional discounts).

Uses of Information
We use your personal information to facilitate the services you request. We use your personal and financial information in the file we maintain about you, and other information we obtain from your current and past activities on this site to: resolve disputes; troubleshoot problems; collect fees owed; measure consumer interest in our products and services, inform you about online and offline offers, products, services, and updates; customize your experience; detect and protect us against error, fraud and other criminal activity; enforce terms of service and other agreements; and as otherwise described to you at the time of collection. At times, we may look across multiple users to identify problems or resolve disputes, and in particular we may examine your personal information to identify users using multiple accounts or aliases. We may compare and review your personal information for errors, omissions and for accuracy.

Profile
We store information that we collect through cookies, log files, clear gifs, and/or third party sources to create a "profile" of your preferences. We collect your personally identifiable information and your services (purchasing) history to information in your profile in order to provide your account history to you, as well as for the purpose of tailoring our promotions and marketing offers and to improve the content of the site and services for you.

Log Files
As is true of most Web sites, we gather certain information automatically and store it in log files. This information may include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system (hardware/software information), date/time stamp, and clickstream data.

When purchasing products or services from our site, relevant portions of this information will be stored in your account profile to provide you and our staff with a record of your transaction history.

We may also use this information in a manner which does not identify individual users, to analyze trends, to administer the site, to track users' movements around the site and to gather demographic information about our user base as a whole

Cookies
A cookie is a small text file that is stored on a user's computer for record-keeping purposes. We may use both session ID cookies and/or persistent cookies to make it easier for you to navigate our site. A session ID cookie expires when you close you browser. A persistent cookie remains on your hard drive for an extended period of time. You can remove persistent cookies by following directions provided in your Internet browser's "help" file.

We may use a persistent cookie to store your login to our site, so you don't have to enter it more than once. Persistent cookies also enable us to track and target the interests of our users to enhance the experience on our site.

If you reject cookies, you may still use our site, but you may unable to login to your account.

Clear Gifs
We may employ a software technology called clear gifs to help us better manage content on our site by informing us what content is effective. Clear gifs are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies, and are used to track the online movements of Web users. In contrast to cookies, which are stored on a user's computer hard drive, clear gifs are embedded invisibly on Web pages and are about the size of the period at the end of this sentence.

We may use clear gifs in our HTML-based emails to let us know which emails have been opened by recipients. This allows us to gauge the effectiveness of certain communications and the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns. If you would like to opt-out of these emails, please see "Choice and Opt-out."
